New Kitchen

The kitchen is the heartbeat of every home. I have some of the best memories with my grandmothers in the kitchen.  There are certain smells of food that can take me back in time in a split second.  You can just imagine what was going through my mind when I had the opportunity to pick out my very own kitchen for our new home!

It was overwhelming choosing from the many cabinet styles, where to place them, do we want pull-outs, etc. I had no idea how many decisions had to be made in just that one area alone - which is why I say it is the heartbeat, the center and the life of the home.

To be honest, I get overwhelmed in these kinds of situations, so I decided to keep it simple.  All those little gadgets can be added later, once I get a feel of how I move as I'm cooking in the kitchen.

Here's where it started - Picking a color scheme

We went with a 5-burner gas stove

Faucet

Black Composite Sink

The pulls for the cabinets

How it all came together!

I'm now wondering what to cook first, ideas???

  1. Both of us blogged about kitchens today. And, I mentioned my grandmother's kitchen as well. Got any ideas for "R" that you would like to share? I'm stuck.

  3. I love your theme of memories for A to Z challenge, Heidi. I too have great memories of my grandma, like her poached eggs on toast, the way she held her coffee cup with one index inside the cup. The way she said her prayers and had us pray after her. The way she loved her games and set up her home in general. My sister has her home now, so I can always come over for more memories. theglobaldig.blogspot.com

    1. I hear it's high maintenance, but I've read to just keep a mineral oil on it (weekly) and it will be fine. So that's what I'm doing! We shall see

  5. It is wonderful how kitchens bring such things to mind. Some times I am sure I smell my Nana's cooking as I read her recipes.

  6. What a BEAUTIFUL kitchen, Heidi! When we remodeled our California home years ago, we selected a faucet like yours. I loved it and miss it all the time in Ecuador.
